Cash and Cars Lottery home by Truman delivers New York chic styling

The Cash and Cars Lottery home opens its doors for public tours this week. The $1.33 million, 3,000-square-foot home inspired by NYC-style urban-chic esthetics is designed and built by Truman and is one of two grand prize homes on the lottery prize docket in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

Truman’s Bowery III, a three-bedroom, open-concept floor plan, is located on a ravined, corner lot that runs east to west in the estate community of Timberline Estates on Calgary’s west side, just five minutes from the 69th Street LRT station and all of the restaurants and shops in the upscale Aspen Landing shopping plaza.

“The home is really inspired by what you would see in New York with the brick exterior and Hardie siding,” says Morgan Fraser, digital marketing manager at Truman. The home exudes contemporary styling with clean lines softened by cedar soffits, and James Hardie siding in shades of creamy white, juxtaposed against brick dusted in shades of caramel. The look is grounded with black accents in the garage door detailing, railings, overhangs and the front door.

The inside spaces are fresh and airy, with plenty of recessed pot lighting and black fixtures with a sculptural and contemporary edge. Finishes include an abundance of stone — the 14-foot-high main floor entranceway is steeped in marble. It’s a clean, inviting and elegant look that sets the tone for the relaxed West Coast vibe of the interior spaces of the three-level home. The striking stone accents are carried throughout the main floor and upstairs into the master ensuite, a decadent and luxurious retreat clad entirely in white marble.

The open-concept main level offers plenty of gracious living space, that lends itself to entertaining — both on an intimate and on a grander scale. The white chef’s kitchen features flat cabinetry with an integrated appliances and an oversized island with eating bar, clad in white quartz. A custom wine room sits adjacent to the kitchen, behind a wall of floor-to-ceiling 10 mm glass, looking gallery-like and certainly upscale chic. A home office is tucked out of the way, perfect for privacy and easy access to the kitchen. Both the dining room on the west side of the home and the living room on the east side extend to oversized outdoor terraces with views of the ravine and trees.

Upstairs, the owners’ retreat sits on the east side of the plan at the front of the home with floor-to-ceiling windows.

“There really is an exceptional amount of natural light and the view is stunning of the treetops and ravine. The windows open up the entire front of the home,” says Fraser.

Two additional bedrooms, a bonus room and another full bathroom, complete the upstairs.

The lower level offers two flex rooms that could potentially become entertainment spaces, a home gym or another bedroom.

In addition to the grand prize, Truman is also donating the early bird prize: a one-bedroom, 589-square-foot condo at Maple at the University District worth $418,000.

This is the 12th year that Calgary-based builder and developer Truman has been supporting the Alberta Cancer Foundation and making a difference in the lives of cancer patients across the province.

“The statistics tell us that every day in this province, 60 people will hear the words: ‘You have cancer,’” says Wendy Beauchesne, CEO at the Alberta Cancer Foundation, adding that in 2023, 23,000 new cancer diagnoses are expected.

“But cancer actually touches us all,” she says. “We all know someone who has had it — a family member, a friend, a colleague.”

Since the lottery’s inception in 2000, it has contributed more than $37 million to cancer research programs in Alberta. This year’s lottery will support three key programs across 17 cancer facilities and clinics in the province, including the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton — the patient financial assistance program, the patient navigation centre, and cutting-edge clinical trials.

“Patient outcomes are improving and its thanks to initiatives like this one, which help to foster to new treatments and the treatments of tomorrow, while helping to make life better today for the people facing cancer,” says Beauchesne.

The second grand prize home, valued at $1.17 million, is a 3,400-square-foot, four-bedroom home by Kimberley Homes in the community of Jagare Ridge in Edmonton. Both grand prize homes also come with $20,000 in cash.

The deadline for early bird tickets is Sept. 15, with the final draw ticket sales deadline on Oct. 6. The final draw will be held Oct. 18.
